MORE ABOUT MARIANNA
I graduated from Bucknell University with a BA and teaching certificate in English and Teachers College, Columbia University with a MA in Learning Dis/Abilities. With 14 years of teaching experience in both middle and high school, I have worked extensively with students who struggle with reading, writing, and executive functioning.
I specialize in identifying the specific skills in which a student struggles and building individualized plans to strengthen those areas. My goal is to empower students to take ownership of their learning and teach them the tools they need to be successful.
SERVICES

WRITING
Generating ideas, planning, drafting, organization, revising, editing.
I work with students to generate interventions and strategies tailored to their writing needs. I help students throughout each phase of the writing process to create cohesive written pieces.
READING
Reading comprehension, vocabulary, generating inferences, using textual evidence.
From novels to nonfiction passages, I help students identify where they are struggling and help strengthen skills and fill in the gaps to become stronger, more resilient readers.
EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
Organization, time management, study skills.
Working together, we develop and implement plans to manage time, organize materials, study efficiently, execute test-taking strategies, plan long term assignments, and create routines to help with daily assignments.
IEP CONSULTATION
The IEP process can often be overwhelming. I can help you better understand your child's IEP and evaluations, as well as the supports available to your child, so that you will have the tools to advocate for your child as a planning and placement team member.
